Michael Makdissi
Michael Makdissi is a consultant Sport and Exercise Medicine Physician (Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre, Melbourne, Australia) and the Chief Medical Officer at the Australian Football League (AFL). He has previously worked with a range of sports at National and International levels. He has been part of the Australian medical team at the Commonwealth Games (Delhi, Glasgow, Gold Coast, Birmingham) and Olympic Games (London).
Michael has a strong clinical and research interest in sport-related concussion and is an honorary research fellow at La Trobe University Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia). He was a member of the Scientific Committee for the 6th International Conference on Concussion in Sport.
His other current roles include player medical services at the Australian Open Tennis Tournament, honorary member of the Australian Rugby Union Concussion Advisory Group, Concussion Consultant for World Rugby and the English Premier League, honorary member of the Australian Commonwealth Games Medical Services and a member of the associate editors of the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
